Well, it is about that time of the semester. The classes are almost over, I am sick on school, there really isn't much to worry about as far as assignments other than studying for final exams and projects and I am nearly broke. I do have a job, but having to deal with Thanksgiving and Christmas preparations and expenses pretty much sucks out all of the extra cash that my job would give me. Sadly enough, this effects the way I eat, which presents me with a problem.
If I could cook, I would. I am not the type of person that enjoys going out to eat for every single meal but sometimes it just seems like it is absolutely necessary. About this time every semester, I seem to rediscover something that I somehow tend to overlook at other times throughout the year. Cereal!
I am infatuated with cereal. All types of cereal. I can eat it for absolutely every meal! It is cheap, tasty, simple and can have decent nutritious value depending on what kind you get. My favorite type of cereal would probably have to be Cinnamon Toast Crunch. When I was a kid, my parents would stock up on the stuff because I would eat two or three bowls of it at a time. It is also one of the few cereals that has games on the box that are actually fun to play. I really miss the days where those games entertained me. I wish it was that simple now!
Anyways, I'm actually about to go have a bowl of strawberry frosted wheat bites. Just for your information, when purchasing wheat bites, stick with the top-selling brands. Food Lion's version of mini-wheats doesn't exactly do the trick, but I am hungry and it is better than nothing.
I tend to forget about the wonder of cereal. It's a cheap substitute for "real" food. Plus, you can eat it at any time of day. Not many foods are that flexible. So, I'm thinking I should revisit this food group. Possibly I should start with Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
ReplyDeleteI agree!!! Cereal is so good, and a great snack. (I actually do like the off brand mini wheats, by the way..) Haha! But, I have a weird taste... I definitely understand the money worries around the holiday season though. It is good that you have a job though!
ReplyDeleteCereal is one of my favorite foods. I try and eat a bowl of cereal with skim milk and a banana every morning when I wake up. My favorite types of cereals are honey bunches of oats with almonds, lucky charms, honey nut cheerios, and life cereal. I have probably tried every single cereal that there is. It's a delicious and healthy way to start off your day.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE CEREAL! And obviously, Cinnamon Toast Crunch is amazingly delicious! I have also found the walmart brand of cereal called Muffin Tops (I think) is pretty amazing too! Its like cinnamon toast crunch mixed with a blueberry muffin. YUM! I always forget how much I actually enjoy cereal. I don't even like milk but I could drink the milk left over from good cereal all day (: I also really like Lucky Charms, but in all reality I think I really only enjoy eating the marshmallows.
ReplyDeleteOh I am well aware of the joys that cereal brings. I just had a bowl of strawberry frosted mini-wheats myself! It was so good. When I was living on my own with no one to cook for, I always had cereal for dinner. I was so busy all the time. I loved Lucky Charms and Honey Nut Cheerios. I don't think there is a cereal I dislike! Well maybe anything with rasins sounds revolting. I like it because cereal may have sugar, but it's low in fat and calories. I drink mine with 1% milk to make matters better. Happy crunching!
ReplyDeleteCereal is great indeed, although I don't think I could eat it for every meal. Cinnamon Toast is a pretty good choice, but have you ever tried "Barbara's Bakery Cinnamon Puffins"? I have tried them for the first time a couple of months ago, and what can i say!? They are absolutely delicious! :) I usually have my cereal with vanilla soy milk, and sometimes add fruit.
ReplyDeleteI am running low on grocery money and have been living off cereal for the last week or so lol. I love it but it's starting to get a little old. I can't wait to get paid! But I do love some cinnamon pecan Special K and apple cinnamon cheerios.
